Leak season is still in full swing for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare as an inside source dished out several new leaks. In a series of tweets, well-known leaker TheGamingRevolution had his source answer questions from the community. These questions were all about Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer and answered quite a few lingering inquiries. However, the juiciest leak to come out of this Q&A session was the reveal of the total map count and map names.
Modern Warfare map count and names revealed
TheGamingRevolution has a sterling record for providing accurate leaks, so his anonymous source must be close to the development. With that being said, the map count and names are still unconfirmed leaks and should be treated as such. Although, there is a high probability the following information is correct.
According to TGR’s source, there will be a total of 20 maps within Modern Warfare‘s multiplayer at launch. These include standard 6v6 modes, 10v10, Gunfight, and Ground War. Here are the alleged names of all 20 maps within Modern Warfare:
Standard 6v6 and 10v10 maps
- Aniyah Palace
- Cave (Night)
- Cave
- Deadzone
- Euphrates Bridge
- Hackney Yard
- Hackney Yard (Night
- Piccadilly
- Petrograd
- Gun Runner
- Gun Runner (Night)
- Spear (subject to change)
- Spear (Night)
- Grazna Raid
Gunfight maps
- Hill
- King
- King (Night)
- Dock
- Pine
- Showers (Gulag)
- Speedball
- Stack
Ground War maps
- Karst River Quarry
- Downtown Donetsk
- Farms
At first glance, this list will seem a bit shocking for long-time Call of Duty fans. While 20 maps is a big number, 10 of those maps are devoted to modes that are not traditional COD multiplayer. Gunfight and Ground War are modes some players will not enjoy since it’s not 6v6 or 10v10.
Subtracting both Gunfight and Ground War, we’re left with 10 maps for 6v6 and 10v10 modes. If we want to go further, there will likely be three-to-four 10v10 modes, leaving the standard 6v6 multiplayer modes with a mere six-to-seven maps, three of which we’ve already seen from the beta. Granted, the night versions of maps do make for a different experience, but a majority of players won’t want to play those versions.
TGR’s source claims there are multiple maps being worked on for post-launch to flesh out limited launch offerings though. Those maps will also be free according to both Activision and Infinity Ward.

This isn’t quite the news that fans wanted to hear, though it’s unconfirmed. However, with only two weeks until release, it’s doubtful that much will change from this list.
