Live streaming video platform Twitch has announced it will host an MTG Arena event on Twitch Rivals next week. Forty streamers will compete against each other using Standard Constructed 2020 decks on Sept. 17.

MTG Arena Challenge

Twitch Rivals is hosting an esports tournament to celebrate the release of Magic: The Gathering Throne of Eldraine. Not much information has been posted yet about the specifics or the list of streamers and content creators taking part. Because of this, the ELD set may or may not be usable by players.

Twitch previously hosted an MTG Arena Team Challenge in July with a prize pool of $25,000. This was ultimately won by Seth “sethmanfieldmtg” Manfield. It featured streamers from North America and Europe where participants competed in teams of two. Individual scores were based on the total number of match wins in three runs. These were combined together and compared with other teams. The top four highest-scoring teams then competed against each other in a single-elimination bracket.

Standard Constructed 2020

MTG Arena Standard 2020

A Standard Constructed 2020 event means players can only construct decks from sets in MTG Arena‘s Standard 2020, which means Guilds of Ravnica forward. This includes Guilds of Ravnica, Ravnica Allegiance, War of the Spark, Core Set 2020, and Throne of Eldraine.

According to the rules, there are also six cards from Throne of Eldraine earned from the Eldraine Courtside Brawl that are able to be used. These consist of Heraldic Banner, Syr Konrad – the Grim, Faerie Vandal, Savvy Hunter, Inspiring Veteran, and Order of Midnight.

Fans can watch all of the Magic: The Gathering: Arena action on the Twitch Rivals channel. This will be streamed on Sept. 17 at 2 p.m. CST.
