Valve has finally released the long awaited Dota patch 7.30 on Wednesday. After months of waiting, players will finally see the patch they’ll be using for the International 10. The patch has brought about several changes to Neutral Items, Heroes, and Item changes.

General Changes in Patch 7.30

Some of the main changes to note for the casual player are the additional neutral items every tier and the water rune changes. Players will now get five neutral items every tier instead of four. This means that the lowly five position can now get a neutral item within the first ten minutes. Water runes now give lower HP, thanks to the patch.

Additionally punishments for players that are losing the lane are harsher than before. Damage done in the mid lane will feel more impactful, as there will be fewer chances to heal. The second Roshan will also no longer drop cheese.

Perhaps one of the larger changes for Dota as an esport is the draft order change. The Second pick phase in a draft will now be Dire/Radiant/Radiant/Dire. This gives second pick a large advantage, being able to see the opponent’s heroes earlier.

Neutral Item changes

This patch removed several neutral items from the game and replaced with them new ones. Here is the list of all neutral items leaving the game:

  • Faded Broach
  • Ironwood Tree
  • Imp Claw
  • Illusionist’s Cape
  • Minotaur Horn
  • Orb of Destruction
  • Ballista

Hero changes in Dota Patch 7.30

There are a significant amount of hero changes that come with this patch. It reworked many Aghanim’s shards for better balance. In addition to the shard changes, many Aghanim’s Scepter upgrades have also changed. Some notable changes to keep in mind are Broodmother’s new Spinner’s Snare ability, and Bristleback’s Nasal Goo Scepter. Both saw nerfs in this patch.

Along with Shard and Scepter changes, many heroes have had their entire kits changed. Tinker is a hero that went through significant shifts in this patch. March of the Machines is now a shard, and Defense Matrix is now Tinker’s third spell. Tinker can no longer farm with March of the Machines without a significant gold investment. Instead, it opens up new avenues of Tinker being played in the support position in a different playstyle.

Staple meta heroes such as Luna, Viper and Winter Wyvern have been given slight nerfs, forcing teams to change up their picks. It will be incredibly interesting to see how the meta will develop as teams get closer to The International 10.
