North American organization Knights have recently practiced without Terry “dsr” Rioux, multiple sources told Upcomer on July 27.
It’s unknown whether dsr has been removed from the roster at the time of publication, however.
Dsr was absent in practice yesterday while a smurf account was used to fill in as his replacement, according to two sources.
Knights may have practiced with former Evil Geniuses player Aleksandar “ALEKSANDAR” Hinojosa, who remains as one of the most sought after free agents in North American VALORANT. Although, he has multiple teams that are looking to grab his signature, so he’ll likely remain a free agent for the time being.
Knights are set to face off against Synergy on Wednesday in the Knights Monthly Gauntlet. The group stage includes some prominent teams in North America including Ghost Gaming, Soniqs Esports and DIVIZE. Youngsters Teal Seam are also participating in the event.
Knights will either have to field a replacement for their match against Synergy or continue to use dsr, even if he has not practiced with the side prior to the event.
The North American team recently bowed out in the VALORANT Championship Tour Stage 3 Challengers 2 Open Qualifier, which concluded on July 26. Knights lost to DarkZero Esports in the round of 16 to hand them an early exit from the tournament.
During the match against DarkZero, dsr was the worst performing player statistically. While dsr played Cypher and Killjoy, he had the least average damage per round at 95.1, according to VLR.gg. However he is not typically expected to get high damage, considering his role.
Prior to the event, Knights lost to the free agent roster EZ5 in the semifinals of the Nerd Street Gamers Summer Championship – Open 11, which concluded on July 14.
If Knights remove dsr from the roster, the organization will field the following team:

- Damion “XXiF” Cook
- Bryan “MAKKA” Drouillard
- Jonathan “silenx” Huntington
