Despite some setbacks, the assault rifle class in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 Season 2 is still one of the most used weapon categories. Nerfs to the class’ top weapons have weakened its presence on both Al Mazrah and Ashika Island, but players can still feel confident using assault rifles in Warzone 2. However, due to all of the nerfs and changes with the class, some players are confused about which assault rifle is now best to use in Season 2 Reloaded.

5. M13B
We’re kicking off the list with a DLC weapon, and this may be a surprise to some players. Interestingly enough, though, the M13B has been steadily rising the ranks of the meta and it has asserted itself as one of the better close-range assault rifles in Warzone 2. It has a fast fire rate that allows it to compete with SMGs at close-mid range.
4. Chimera
Another DLC weapon, the Chimera comes in at the number four spot. The Chimera is extremely similar to the M13B, as this replica of the Honey Badger has a fast fire rate, moderate damage, and little recoil when equipped with the right attachments. However, like the M13B, it lacks long-range prowess, which leaves it out of the top three ARs in Season 2.
3. Kastov 762
Veterans of Warzone 2 will know how strong the Kastov 762 can be in the right hands. Sporting more recoil and a slower fire rate than other ARs in Warzone 2, the Kastov 762 has one of the best damage range profiles in the entire game. If players can hit their shots with the 762, they can kill enemies extremely quickly.
2. TAQ-56
The previous king of the assault rifles has dropped to the number two spot in Season 2. However, that’s not to say that the TAQ-56 still isn’t a monster in Warzone 2. It has all of the same stats and handling that it has for the past several months, giving players one of the best mid-range weapons. However, there is a new king that is simply better than the TAQ-56 at most ranges.
1. ISO Hemlock
The Season 2 Battle Pass weapon has taken over the TAQ-56 for the top spot among the ARs in Warzone 2. Thanks to virtually no recoil, high damage, and a fast fire rate, the ISO Hemlock is virtually unbeatable when players are hitting consistent shots. While a strong LMG might outgun the ISO Hemlock, players won’t be losing many gunfights using this AR in Season 2.
