It was a rather dull day to kick off Week 5 of the 2022 League of Legends Championship Series Summer split. The results were expected and the games weren’t all that exciting. But with that said, there were plenty of things to go over on the first day of the new week. Here are the top moments of Week 5, Day 1 in this LCS Wrap-up.

Player of the Day: TL Bwipo

Although he said at the beginning of the split that he’s fine with playing weakside, that comment seems sarcastic now Team Liquid Honda’s Gabriël “Bwipo” Rau had a crazy performance on the hyper-carry top laner Gangplank in their match against Immortals. Despite IMT being the weaker team, they came to play; but Bwipo put them back in their place with a clutch but unofficial pentakill to close out the game in a team fight near Baron.  Bwipo finished the game 11/3/2 on GP, picking up player of the game honors in the process.

Best Clip: CLG = McDonalds

Although Evil Geniuses has Joseph “Jojopyun” Pyun when it comes to world-class smack talkers, it’s actually Philippe “Vulcan” Laflamme who is the mastermind behind EG’s cockiness. With the “Vulcan McDonalds” meme still in the rotation of jokes, the EG support managed to make a twist on the meme saying that playing against Counter Logic Gaming was just another day at the job.

Best quote: Closer calls out the analyst desk

The general sentiment behind 100 Thieves is pretty low for a team in second place and 100’s jungler Can “Closer” Çelik is definitely aware of it. When it comes to rankings, Closer had some playful words for the LCS analyst desk.

What’s Next

The 2022 LCS Summer split continues its Week 5 action today, July 24 with all 10 teams coming back onto the rift to wrap up the week. Notable matchups include EG taking on 100 and TL going up against CLG.  Matches start at 3:30 p.m ET live on the LCS Twitch Channel.
