According to Anthony “Shotzzy” Cuevas-Castro, OpTic is getting their in-game leader back soon. Indervir “iLLeY” Dhaliwal has apparently returned to scrimmaging this week, which could signal that he’s ready to come back to the starting roster.
iLLeY has been sidelined with a thumb injury since the CDL Pro-Am Classic in early May. The OpTic player has gone through multiple setbacks on the road to recovery, most recently going through hand stiffness as a result of a cortisone shot to help his thumb injury. iLLeY announced he was dealing with the stiffness last week, which led to substitute player Byron “Prolute” Vera to play with Texas for their first two matches of Major IV.
In those matches, OpTic went 0-2, losing to Boston and Minnesota. The entire roster seemed out of sorts in both matches, which could be a result of the roster turnaround that’s occurred from iLLeY’s numerous setbacks. However, now it seems like no more setbacks are in store, and iLLeY could be back as soon as this weekend.
iLLeY returns to OpTic Texas
Shotzzy announced the news of iLLeY’s return live on his Twitch stream. Shotzzy stated iLLeY came back to the team on Tuesday and the roster played two full sets of scrimmages with him. Apparently, iLLeY felt no pain in his hand or thumb after playing.
“Inder [iLLeY] is back, yes he’s back. We’ve been playing with Inder only today. He came in and said ‘boys, I’m feeling good,'” Shotzzy explained. “We played a full two sets. There was no pain, no stiffness, no nothing.”

This is terrific news for OpTic Texas, as it seems like iLLeY is feeling strong enough to return to the starting roster. This could change after a few days of scrimmaging, though, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up to see iLLeY play with Texas this weekend. OpTic plays against the New York Subliners on Sunday, July 3 at 6:00 p.m. ET. The team should release an update on iLLeY’s status for the match prior to then.
