New gen, new price

The Call of Duty franchise is one of the most popular franchises in the world and has continued to sell well for years. In a post by Dot Esports, the team confirmed that the franchise has earned more than $30 billion. With 425 million premium game sales and over 125 million on Warzone, the franchise continues to hit high numbers worldwide.

The price hike also coincides with Call of Duty’s return to popular video game distribution platform Steam. Now, even more fans will be able to access the through the method of their choice. Along with the move to Steam, Modern Warfare II is aiming to be the beginning of Call of Duty games with the same engine, across both Infinity Ward and Treyarch’s games, and the price increase lines up with current pricing for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X titles; the most current generation of consoles have seen a price hike for most titles that live on the next-gen consoles.

The new bundles for MWII

As for those new bundles, the development team has revealed two so far. The first is a cross-gen bundle, allowing players to access the game on all systems. That includes PS4, PS5, PC, Xbox One (backward compatibility) and the Xbox Series X/S. It also gives early access to the Modern Warfare II open beta.

The $99 bundle is known as the Vault edition. It includes everything the cross-gen bundle has as well as exclusive in-game content. The Battle Pass, 10 hours of double experience for both the multiplayer and Warzone and more are in the Vault bundle.
