Along with today’s reveal of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, Activision divulged some interesting information about Warzone 2 — a new installment of Call of Duty’s battle royale experience. According to Activision, the current version of Warzone will remain separate from Warzone 2.
“Today’s Warzone will continue on as a separate experience that will include a continuation of player progression and inventories within that Warzone experience,” the company said during the Modern Warfare II reveal.

Warzone 2
Since Warzone 2 is essentially a new game, it will be completely separate from the original Warzone. This means inventories will start from scratch and all of the current content and systems will not be carried over to the new experience. Essentially, players have to rebuild their weapon blueprints, weapon leveling, and everything else included in today’s Warzone.
While this might disappoint fans who have spent countless hours and money on the original Warzone, it’s a new chapter for the game that Activision seemingly had to take. The current version of Warzone couldn’t simply keep adding games and new content forever. With Warzone 2, fans can experience an entirely new game while still being able to play the current version separately.
As for the content fans can expect in Warzone 2, all of Modern Warfare II’s weapons and other features will be included. While it’s unclear exactly what could make its way into the battle royale, it’s safe to assume that vehicles, equipment, perks and killstreaks will all be available at launch. New mechanics, such as swimming and ways to navigate vehicles, will also be available in Warzone 2.
The release date of Warzone 2 is currently unknown. However, it will launch after Modern Warfare 2 does on Oct. 28. Exactly when that will be is anyone’s guess, but if past games are any indication, the arrival of Season 1 should trigger Warzone 2’s launch.
RICOCHET Anti-Cheat
Activision confirmed that the RICOCHET Anti-Cheat will be available on day one. This means that whenever the new experience releases, the anti-cheat will be working to stop any hackers from entering matches.
Warzone Mobile
Finally, Activision also confirmed that a mobile experience of Warzone is currently in development. They didn’t say anything else on the matter but judging from recently leaked gameplay, the mode is still at least months away. Possibly during 2023 the mobile experience will launch.
