Pokémon GO Fest will return this summer with a number of ways for players to participate both online and offline, developer Niantic announced Thursday. For the first time since 2019, Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will include major in-person celebrations for cities in Germany, the United States and Japan.

In 2019, the event included major celebrations in Dortmund, Chicago and Yokohama. However, the 2020 event took place entirely online as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2021 Fest featured a major online component, along with smaller in-person gatherings in 21 cities throughout the United States and Europe.

But, it seems Pokémon GO Fest is looking to return to its former glory with the 2022 celebrations. This year, Pokémon GO players will have the chance to take part in massive in-person events in Berlin, Seattle and Sapporo.

“We’re excited to return to the roots of this annual event while continuing to host the global experience that millions of trainers have enjoyed,” a statement on the Pokémon GO website said. “Whether you’re participating in the global event or planning to join us in person, we can’t wait to celebrate together. Let’s GO!”

Pokémon GO Fest 2022 schedule

The global Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will take place from June 4-5. Players throughout the world can take part in this online celebration without traveling to a major city for one of the offline gatherings. In addition, there will be a worldwide finale event as a bonus that will happen on Aug. 27.

Here is the current schedule for the major in-person celebrations:

  • Berlin, Germany: July 1-3
  • Seattle, Washington: July 22-24
  • Sapporo, Japan: Aug. 5-7

The statement on the Pokémon GO website noted that all upcoming events are subject to potential change. And, as always, the statement encouraged players to keep an eye on their surroundings and adhere to local health and safety guidelines no matter how they end up celebrating Pokémon GO Fest 2022.
