One of the most overpowered Ash of Wars in Elden Ring, as it currently stands, is called “Hoarfrost Stomp.” This Ash of War deals frost damage to a large area in front of the caster. It can be equipped on all melee armaments, giving it an even higher value.

The Ash of War can singlehandedly take down bosses, but it’s fairly difficult to find in Elden Ring. Luckily, one weapon already comes with the Hoarfrost Stomp ash equipped: the Icerind Hatchet. And, when paired with the Ash of War, it can last players an entire run.

The Icerind Hatchet is much simpler to find than the physical Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War. It scales with Strength and Dexterity, requiring 11 Strength and 16 Dexterity to equip. The hatchet has a base physical attack of 111 and a Critical damage rating of 100. It’s a massively powerful weapon when leveled up with Somber Smithing Stones. Below, you can find out exactly where to locate the Icerind Hatchet on the map.

Icerind Hatchet’s location in Elden Ring

The Icerind Hatchet is located in Liurnia of the Lakes. You can find the weapon in a small, run-down building out in the middle of the lake. If you have the Temple Quarter location discovered, you can head southeast from there until you reach it. The ruined building is located southwest of the Academy if you need additional direction. Look at the map screenshot below for an exact location.

Once around the Temple Quarter location, you will need to head into the run-down building that’s surrounded by Poison Flowers and the strange-looking gray enemies. A treasure chest will be inside one of the broken doorways which contains the Icerind Hatchet.

The Icerind Hatchet can’t have its Hoarfrost Stomp Ash of War unequipped. So if you want to use the skill on another weapon, you need to locate the physical Ash of War item in Elden Ring.
