Your first trip to the Roundtable Hold in Elden Ring might consist of you getting held by a mysterious woman on a bed. This woman is found by Master Hewg, the blacksmith. She offers to hold you so that you can receive a blessing for your journey to become the Elden Lord. After this hug is over, you receive the Baldachin’s Blessing. While this seems harmless at first, you need to take this off immediately or your entire playthrough will become much more difficult.

The Baldachin’s Blessing is described as “Uses FP to temporarily boost poise.” This appears to be a regular consumable that you can use in any situation you see fit. However, what the blessing doesn’t tell you is that it’s dragging one of your stats down tremendously. Here’s why you need to remove Baldachin’s Blessing immediately in Elden Ring.

Once you receive the hug from the woman on the bed, Baldachin’s Blessing will be on the first page of your inventory. What the game doesn’t tell you is that, when this happens, your Vigor stat will be reduced. Moreover, it will be reduced until you remove Baldachin’s Blessing.

Vigor is your HP stat, so this has huge ramifications if you’re playing as a tank or melee character that can’t heal themselves with a spell. In order to remove Baldachin’s Blessing, head into your inventory, select the blessing and then press “Use.” This will allow you to use some FP to boost your poise. You will also return your Vigor stat to its rightful value.

This can all be avoided if you don’t let the woman at the Roundtable Hold hold you. Of course, for most, it’s too late by the time they find out what Baldachin’s Blessing actually does in Elden Ring. All you can do now is make sure you don’t go back to the woman.
