While the core gameplay of Dying Light 2 Stay Human is centered around parkour, the combat elements are present all around the world. From fighting Infected to Renegades and other human enemies, you’ll be pulling out weapons every few minutes. If you want to survive these fights, you’ll need to equip the best weapon, at least for the early game. This is a melee weapon, not a gun, as there’s only one of those in Dying Light 2.

Melee weapons are usually random pickups that you can find all over Villedor and the Central Loop. However, there are some locations that have set weapons as drops or rewards. One of these locations holds the best early-game melee weapon that you can find in Dying Light 2. Below, you can see exactly where that is.

The best early game weapon in Dying Light 2

To get this weapon, you will need to have made it to the Central Loop. Without giving too much away story-wise, you won’t be able to access this area until after the events with Aitor and Sophie unfold. Once you’re in the Central Loop and have explored around a bit, especially with your paraglider, you can go to one specific spot.

This location is a bandit camp in the eastern part of the Downtown region called “Downtown Thugs.” You’ll find a group of Renegades guarding the buildings the camp encompasses. These Renegades have three Lieutenants, dozens of guards and a commander that you need to eliminate. If you do, then you can set up a safe zone at the location. Once you do, you’ll be rewarded with “The Sign.” This is a level three, two-handed Artifact melee weapon that can deal some serious damage to any enemy, no matter their level.

The only disadvantage to using a two-handed weapon is that your stamina runs out faster when swinging it. However, with its damage capabilities, you won’t need to hit an enemy many times to take them down. The Sign doesn’t come with any weapon mods slots but does have a solid amount of durability.

You will be able to use The Sign for quite a long time before it breaks. After it does, you won’t be able to repair it. So it’s wise to save it for special occasions like boss fights and other challenging encounters in Dying Light 2.
