Wolves Esports has cut Francesco “Kuxir97” Cinquemani from its Rocket League roster, the organization announced on Sunday. Kuxir97 joined Wolves Esports just three months prior to his removal from the team. The Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) Season 2 World Champion is a prominent figure in the scene. Wolves signed him in an attempt to fix their disappointing results in the winter split.
Wolves Esports fail to impress with Kuxir97
Despite the addition of Kuxir97, Wolves’ results remained dismal. They marginally improved and even reached a fifth to eighth place finished in the final regional event of the season. But, the team always hovered around the 18 spot in the RLCS X EU standings.
Even with a former world champion, Wolves could not set themselves apart as a contender. His replacement is still unclear, but the official statement said more updates will come before the season resumes.
Kuxir97’s former colleagues also speak highly of him, despite the abrupt and swift ending of their partnership.
“It was a great experience to work alongside Kux,” said team coach Joessi “Juicy” Moorman . “It was a privilege to work alongside one of the most experienced Rocket League players still in the scene. I’m saddened things didn’t quite work out as a roster, but with his dedication I hope he will once again come back at the top the upcoming season.”
What’s next?
It’s not yet known what is next for Kuxir97, although his career may still have some life in it. The Italian recently reached the closed qualifiers for the Olympic tie-in event, the Intel World Open, where he will play for national glory with fellow countrymen Ario “arju” Berdin and Lorenzo “Dead-Monster” Tongiorgi.
Arju is also a former teammate of Kuxir97 on Mousesports. He was substituted for Kyle “Scrub Killa” Robertson when the Scotsman left midway through the season and impressed many fans with his performances. He currently plays for the former-Galaxy Racer team, who were recently dropped by the organization and simultaneously parted ways with Daniel “Bluey” Bluett. With the impressive results on the Italian national team, it leaves the door open for Kuxir97 on arju’s yet-unnamed team.
