Former Counter-Strike: Global Offensive player Jakob “JUGi” Hansen has joined European team HEET, marking his first competitive play in VALORANT. This stand-in signing temporarily replaces fellow Danish player Albert “Albert” Mikkelsen’s position on the roster.

Stand-in for a new esport
JUGi made his name in CS:GO by playing for big-name teams like OpTic Gaming, North and Astralis. Reaching the semi-finals at the IEM Season XI World Championship for Heroic was his best finish before moving on to those teams. Afterwards, his skills in the AWP role led him to tournament victories like at DreamHack Open Sevilla 2019 playing for North. He also managed to finish second place at big tournaments, including cs_summit 3, the DreamHack Open in Summer 2018 and the Europe Minor Championship in London 2018.
However, after leaving Astralis, it would be thirteen months before JUGi joined a new CS:GO team. After playing for new team South and not getting deep in tournaments, he departed in search of new pastures. Now, not only is he playing for a new team but also in a new esport.
HEET’s qualifying future with JUGi
Before needing to sign JUGi to the roster for their VALORANT Champions Tour Challengers runs, the team attempted to qualify for EU VCT at Challengers 1. However, after a 2-0 match win against Joga Bonito, they lost to NOM Esports 2-1. After getting knocked out, this signing was made and JUGi joined the team for their next qualifying attempt, for Challengers 2. Yet, history repeated itself and they were eliminated again by NOM Esports.

However, the results don’t tell the full story. In that match of HEET against NOM Esports, JUGi showed off in his VCT debut. He led the lobby with 55 kills, a +21 plus/minus and an ACS of 180. In comparison, Albert finished his match against NOM Esports middle of the pack on his team in all stats. He didn’t win, but JUGi showed what he can do immediately in his debut for HEET.
