On Wednesday, Raven Software brought glad tidings to the entire Call of Duty: Warzone Pacific community by announcing several changes coming to the battle royale, including a long-awaited nerf to the infamous Double Barrel shotguns in Warzone Pacific. More specifically, the Akimbo version of this weapon.

In recent weeks, the Double Barrel shotgun from Vanguard has become one of Warzone Pacific’s most overpowered weapons. If players wield them with the Akimbo perk, which puts another one of the shotguns in a player’s hand, they become nearly unstoppable. Recently, numerous clips have surfaced on social media of players being instantly killed by the Akimbo Double Barrel.

The Double Barrel shotgun’s reign of tyranny is nearly over, though.

Double Barrel shotgun nerf

Raven Software simply said on Twitter that they’re aware of the community’s opinion of the Double Barrel shotguns. They followed that by saying “an adjustment is coming in the near future.” No concrete timeline was given as to when players can expect the update that will nerf the shotgun.

The bigger weapon balancing update is likely arriving over the weekend or at the start of next week. There are rumors that Season 1 Reloaded is arriving for Vanguard and Warzone Pacific early next week, so perhaps the Double Barrel nerf will be included with that.

There’s also no indication as to what Raven could nerf regarding the Akimbo Double Barrel shotguns. It seems likely the developers will adjust the weapon’s damage range so it doesn’t kill players nearly as fast. They could also give the Akimbo perk some negatives, like a slower fire rate or higher recoil.
