Hogwarts Legacy will assuredly be one of the top releases in 2022. While it was already a hyped-up title, the recent State of Play gameplay trailer has only increased the excitement for the game. There have been several questions surrounding the title even with the new trailer going over a plethora of details. One of those questions is whether or not Hogwarts Legacy will feature any kind of multiplayer elements.
When the game by Avalanche Studios was first revealed, the rumor was that it would be an MMO-styled title. Players were beyond excited for this possibility, as the thought of exploring Hogwarts and the Wizarding World if a friend or several by your side was all too enticing. After the State of Play trailer was revealed, players still had questions as to whether or not there would be any multiplayer in Hogwarts Legacy.
Hogwarts Legacy will not feature multiplayer
Unfortunately for fans hoping to gear up with a friend, there will be no multiplayer elements in Hogwarts Legacy. Instead, you will tackle the Wizarding Would with companions that the game presents you with. According to the trailer, you will be able to pick between several companions that can travel with you.
As for real-life players, there will be no co-op play available. This comes directly from the Hogwarts Legacy website FAQ, which states “Hogwarts Legacy is a single-player experience and does not have online or co-op gameplay.”
While this might be disappointing for some players, single-player gameplay ensures that the developers can focus on this aspect alone. It will also deter any form of micro-transactions, which are also confirmed to not be included in Hogwarts Legacy.
A single-player experience is what lies in wait for Hogwarts Legacy players come this holiday season. Of course, we have no idea what the developers have planned for the Hogwarts Legacy franchise. Perhaps multiplayer could arrive in this game or the next in some form. For now, though, you will have to rely on the in-game NPCs and companions to fill out the world of Hogwarts Legacy.
