There are under 48 hours to go until the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard but players still have some pressing questions. While Activision and Sledgehammer Games answered most of those questions in their blog posts last week, there are lingering inquiries prior to launch. One of the most pertinent queries deals with COD Points, and whether or not they’ll transfer to Vanguard once it releases.

COD Points are the main currency in Call of Duty. They’ve technically been around since 2010 but they truly took form in Black Ops 3 when players could use them to purchase in-game items. With the changes Call of Duty has made over the years, there are now ways for players to earn COD Points through the Battle Pass and different items to purchase with them. Players can also earn them across multiple titles.

Many players will have already accrued COD Points from playing various Call of Duty titles in the past. But will those points carry over to Vanguard?

The short answer to the question is yes, COD Points will stay with a player’s account in Vanguard. Whether they were earned way back in Modern Warfare or this past year in Cold War, COD Points are tied to a player’s Activision account. This means that players need to use the same Activision account in Vanguard if they want to keep their COD Points.

At the launch of Vanguard, there likely won’t be much to buy with COD Points, if anything. It traditionally takes a couple of weeks at the least for developers to start introducing bundles and other items in the store. Then, when Season 1 launches on Dec. 3, players can use COD Points to purchase the Battle Pass/tiers and other store items that will arrive.

There will be Operator skins, weapon blueprints and everything else that fans have come to expect in the Call of Duty store. If fans are interested in buying any of those cosmetics in Vanguard, they may begin saving their COD Points in Warzone or Cold War from now.
