The Diablo 4 beta has officially gone live for all players who decided to pre-order any one of the three editions. This is quite an exciting day for Diablo fans, as this is the first major release for the franchise since Diablo 3 way back in 2012. However, the day has been marred for some due to the inability to select one of their favorite classes. At the launch of the Diablo 4 beta, both the Druid and Necromancer classes are locked, and players want to know why.

Pre-beta, the Druid and Necromancer classes had a ton of hype around them. The Necromancer is one of the most popular Diablo classes of all time, as players love having hordes of undead zombies do their fighting for them. As for the Druid, fans were quite looking forward to shapeshifting into different animals to tear through enemies.

If you want to see why both of these classes are locked, keep reading below.

For those that are worried this is some kind of glitch, fear not. Blizzard Entertainment addressed this issue in a blog post prior to the beta’s launch. According to the developers: “Once the Open Beta weekend comes around, the earthen Druid and undead-wielding Necromancer classes can also be played in addition to the original three.”

So, what this means is that pre-order players will not be able to pick the Druid or Necromancer classes during the first weekend of the Diablo 4 beta. Instead, they will have to wait until March 24, when the beta officially becomes open for all players, regardless of their pre-order status. Blizzard likely did it this way so that all players can experience both of those classes at the same time.

Fans who are playing during the first weekend will still be able to keep their characters for the second week. However, they will have to make a new character if they want to select either the Druid or Necromancer. Players can have up to 10 characters at a time on their account during the beta.
