One of the more intriguing elements of the open world that Elden Ring delivers is the ability to discover the map at your own pace. If you want to solely follow the main story, you can do so. The Guidances of Grace will be there to help you along your way and open up the map to the north. This is where you’ll encounter the game’s first two main bosses.

However, if you’re more of an explorer, then you might consider heading east or south from the starting region of Limgrave. If you decide to head east, you’ll eventually run into a location called Caelid. Like other regions, you need to find a map of Caelid to fully see what it has to offer in Elden Ring.

Below, you can see exactly where to find that map so you’re not caught wandering aimlessly around the red landscape.

The map of Caelid in Elden Ring

Caelid has mostly reddish landscapes, including a blood-red sky and tinted lake. It can be an intimidating location for newer players, as the enemies here are much larger and more advanced than the ones found in Limgrave.

If you pull open your map upon entering the region, you’ll see it’s blacked out. In order to reveal the entire location on your map, you need to find the physical map of Caelid. To find that, you can enter the region from the northeastern part of Stormhill. From here, keep following the main road in the region. It’s along the main road that you’ll find the map in the southern part of Caelid, as shown below. The map is on a pillar with text going from top to bottom.

This map requires you to venture fairly far into the region. If you keep following the main road, you will eventually run into a large camp before going further north into the Elden Ring map. This is also where the Guidance of Grace points to, so it’s a good place to go if you’re looking to advance the main story. Of course, you’ll need to find a new map to un-black that region out on the map as well.
