Ghostwire: Tokyo, the action-adventure game published by Bethesda Softworks and developed by Tango Gameworks, combines Japanese horror elements with open-world mechanics and fluid gameplay. Ghostwire: Tokyo is releasing on March 25 and its trailer showcases some interesting combat that sets it apart from other games releasing this year. Unfortunately, for the gaming community, it it will not release on every platform.

The Ghostwire: Tokyo platforms

The game is only releasing on PlayStation 5 and PC, taking the current-generation approach to its launch. Games like Horizon Forbidden West and Dying Light 2 Stay Human have maintained a presence on last-gen consoles, but it seems Ghostwire: Tokyo might be too advanced for that hardware. The gameplay and graphics are quite modern, which could have made it difficult to develop for older systems like the PS4 and Xbox One.

Some fans might be wondering how the game isn’t releasing on Xbox Series X|S, though. After all, Microsoft purchased Bethesda Softworks in a blockbuster deal one year ago. However, Bethesda signed a console exclusivity deal with Sony before they were acquired by Microsoft. This deal entails that Ghostwire: Tokyo will be exclusive to the PS5 for one year. After that, it’s possible the game will come to Xbox Series X|S.

PC players are the exception to this, however. The game will release on Windows when March 25 comes around. Players on PC can find the title on Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will have the standard $60 price tag, compared to the PS5 price tag of $70. Recently, the file size for the PC version of Ghostwire: Tokyo was revealed to be just 20 GB, so players shouldn’t have to clear much disk space to download it.
