Fans of the Borderlands franchise didn’t have to wait long for another spin-off entry, this time in the form of Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The game, developed by Gearbox Software, is a successor to Borderlands 2’s DLC, Tiny Tina’s Assault on Dragon Keep. It’s being called a spin-off title of the main series games, focusing on Tiny Tina and all of her destructive tendencies. Luckily for fans, the game has a concrete release date of March 25, which is quickly approaching.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands uses a plethora of tried and true Borderlands mechanics and features. The art style, loot system and witty dialogue are all present in the game, which was recently shown off in hands-on gameplay experiences. However, Gearbox Software has also added some new mechanics to make Tiny Tina’s new game a true standalone title from the main Borderlands series.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands release date
The official release date for Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is March 25, 2022. This comes one month after Elden Ring releases, so video game fans will have their plates full early in the year. The game will be a full $60 title on PC and old-gen consoles, while it will be the standard $70 for current-gen consoles. If fans buy the game on a last-gen console, they can upgrade it to current-gen for only $10 instead of buying it again.
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands runs on the Borderlands 3 engine but is a completely new game. It isn’t a campaign DLC for Borderlands 3, as evident by its new story and gameplay mechanics. One of the most exciting aspects of the game is the addition of spells. These act like grenades from the Borderlands games but have an entirely new twist on them.
One spell, as showcased in IGN’s hands-on gameplay, can force a drawbridge to open thanks to Tiny Tina casting a heart on it. The game looks to have all of the outlandish mechanics that fans have come to expect from Borderlands, plus some refreshing twists.
Players can take part in Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands on March 25. The game will release on PC, PS4+5, Xbox One and Series X|S.
