Joe Ziegler, a game developer for Valorant, has revealed Riot Games’ plan to include a ranked mode in the new FPS title. The ‘Rated’ game mode will hit servers during the closed beta.

Valorant has quickly skyrocketed into being one of the biggest games of the year only a few days into its beta. With some of the biggest names in the gaming industry praising Riot Games’ newest FPS title, gamers all over are trying to get their hands on a key.

In the days following the beta release, Riot Games has done everything in their power to ensure their players are enjoying their game. They have already begun hardware banning cheaters and deleted bot accounts being sold online. Now, their next step is to assure people that they will have a competitive game mode before the game is released.

Valorant ranked outrages CoD fans

The news of this ‘Rated’ ranked mode quickly spread amongst the gaming community. While those who were fans of Valorant were elated with the development, other FPS titles were forced to take notice. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare has been under heavy scrutiny since its release in October. Especially when no ranked play was released even months after the game came out. Call of Duty fans and professionals pointed to Valorant’s early announcement of ranked play as an example.

Ex-Call of Duty pro, Nadeshot had this to say about Valorant’s leaked ‘Rated’ mode.

Additionally, CDL Intel fired back at Infinity Ward by tagging them directly in the post related to Valorant

Riot Ziegler did not disclose a final date of when we would see this rated play in action. However, he did allude to the fact that the Valorant closed beta would be longer than a few weeks. It’s unknown how long the beta will last for. With Ziegler suggesting several weeks in the future, we may have a beta up until release.
