Patch 1.08 is here in Valorant, and it brings some important changes to the game. The most significant change in the patch is the change to how the map rotation works. There are also some slight nerfs to Raze and buffs to the Guardian. Here’s what you need to know.

Valorant‘s map rotation

Players have been vocal about getting the same map over and over again in Valorant. Riot Ziegler, Valorant‘s Game Director, addressed the issue last week and it looks like Patch 1.08 is bringing about changes.

Now, the matchmaking queue will measure which maps you have played on recently and you will have a better chance of getting a map you haven’t played over your last few games. While this doesn’t mean you will never get the same map back to back, it should help improve your odds of getting different maps each game.

Raze nerfs and Guardian buffs

In addition to the changes to the map rotation, Raze is getting some nerfs and the Guardian is getting buffed. Raze’s Blast Pack will now only do 15 damage within a .2 meter radius when in the air. After the Blast Pack lands, it will arm and do up to 50 damage. The Blast Pack will no longer damage allies, and you can now shoot it to detonate it.

The Guardian seems to be the weakest Assault Rifle at the moment. The cost of the weapon is going from 2,500 to 2,400, and its rate of fire is increasing from 4.75 to 5.25 rounds per second. It will also recover better after firing three shots. This should help give players a reason to choose it over the Phantom or the Vandal in certain situations.

As always, the new patch brings quality of life updates and bug fixes as well. Be sure to update the game and check out all the changes for yourself. Let us know what you think in the comments!
