For VALORANT, the new battle pass for Episode 5 Act II has been revealed, with new gun buddies, skins and more. The developers have confirmed the theme for the items in the pass, focusing on myths and legends according to the developers. Here are previews of all the gun buddies and gun skins, with highlights on player cards and sprays. The battle pass will cost 1000 VP, going live on Aug. 23, 2022.
VALORANT producer speaks out on new battle pass
When it came to this myths and legends theme that this new battle pass has, producer Laura Baltzer talked more in-depth about that choice.
“This pass was the first time we wanted to try to build a battle pass around a central theme: myths and legends,” Baltzer said. “We did this for a few reasons. We wanted the battle pass to reflect some of the things that were going on in VALORANT and make it feel like a memorable part of this moment in time for players. Champions is just around the corner and we can’t wait to see what legends are born from it.”
Not only does this battle pass revolve around the VCT Champions 2022 tournament, but it follows up on items first introduced in the previous act in this episode.
“At the beginning of Episode 5, we saw in our Shattered cinematic that our Agents saw themselves in a heroic light,” Baltzer said. “When players equip the Obsidiana or the Immortalized Vandal, we want them to feel just as legendary on their ranked climb as the pros playing on the main stage, or as our Agents immortalized in comic books.”
As for inspirations for some of the items within, the team at Riot Games did their research.
“This battle pass was so much fun to work on because of the amount of different cultures and stories that we were inspired by,” Baltzer said. “The Hit in the Ankle Spray, for example, was a reference to ancient sculptures and artwork of Achilles. The Kiss the Frog Gun Buddy is, of course, a reference to the famous story of the Princess and the Frog. The Anansi Buddy is inspired by the many folktales of the spider by the same name. And, finally, we even explore the legends in our own game with the Garden of Heroes series. ”

Gun Skins
Here are all the new gun skins for the Episode 5 Act II battle pass. First off are the Immortalized gun skins.
The second gun skin series is Piedra del Sol.
The third gun skin series from this battle pass is Premiere Collision.
Player cards and sprays
As per usual, the battle pass will also contain plenty of new player cards and sprays. For the player cards, they share a theme of showing off the agents as heroes, and the good acts they’ve done.
Lastly, the sprays bring some levity into the game. For example, there is a randomized spray, revolving around gun skin choices from players.
