Game developer Ubisoft announced Tuesday that it plans to release a new version of Rainbow Six Siege known as Rainbow Six Mobile, a free-to-play first-person shooter game for mobile devices. The mobile game has been in development for over three years by Ubisoft Montreal. While there is no release date yet, players can register now to get a chance at early access.

“Our goal is not to have you stop playing on PC or console and switch to mobile,” the Ubisoft mobile dev team said in the announcement. “We know there is nothing like the adrenaline rush of a close Siege match on the big screen or the precision of a mouse and keyboard. Since we can’t carry our monitors with us everywhere, Rainbow Six Mobile will give you the opportunity to play the game you love in short, accessible bursts, while also enabling millions of new players to get the R6 experience.”

What to expect with Rainbow Six Mobile

Rainbow Six Mobile is a competitive and tactical FPS game with two teams of 5 attackers and defenders.  Moreover, the game has a similar outlook to Rainbow Six Siege in terms of core gameplay, operators and map. However, the game will feature changes to ensure the best experience for mobile users.

The changes include a new gameplay control system for mobile, in-game visual presentation and extensive optimization of the UI. Furthermore, Six Mobile will have several game modes but shorter matchmaking and round times than Siege. It also includes include Bank and Border maps for the testing period.

Players will be able to select Operators with unique skills and equip them with gadgets. Ash, Sledge, Twitch, Thermite and Hibana will be the attackers available on launch. While defenders will include Caveira, Bandit, Smoke, Valkyrie and Mute.

With this announcement, Six Mobile will be the third shooter game coming to mobile in 2022 after Apex Legends and Call of Duty: Warzone.
