Over the weekend, the Call of Duty League Last Chance Qualifiers took place. These qualifiers were solely for Challengers teams who were hoping to squeeze their way into Champs next month. All four regions received their own LCQ event, but only eight teams per region were allowed to participate.
Moreover, only one team from these eight squads could make it to Champs by winning the LCQ. The team from North America to win their LCQ was called Team Xposed, which some Call of Duty fans might recognize. The team was and still is sponsored by Twitch streamer Cody “Xposed” Burnett. Xposed got his start on Twitch by playing competitive Call of Duty but now mainly plays slots and does community giveaways.
After his team, consisting of two-time world champion James “Clayster” Eubanks, made it to Champs, Xposed doubled down on his commitment to the Challengers scene. The streamer said he wants to sponsor a Challengers team for the 2023 season as well. The roster under the Team Xposed banner would have their event accommodations covered in addition to receiving a monthly income, which few Challenger organizations offer their players.
In fact, most organizations dropped out of the Challengers scene this past season due to uncertainty over its future. It seems Xposed is willing to foot the bill for the right roster and the right game, though.
“If next year’s CoD is good I’m sponsoring a squad next year for challengers covering flights, hotels, headsets, controllers and even dishing out a little monthly income,” he said on Twitter.
An important caveat to Xposed’s tweet is in regards to next year’s game, Modern Warfare. The streamer stipulates that he will only sponsor a team if MWII is good. This is likely due to the fact that if the game is not perceived well, there won’t be as much attention on the CDL, and especially Challengers, in 2023.
It won’t be @Clayster unfortunately because he’ll be in the league but hopefully there’s some other good talent out there to take on. https://t.co/d3RXxuVH4U

Xposed said “hopefully there’s some other good talent out there to take on” in regards to his potential roster. He said Clayster wouldn’t continue on the team because he’ll be competing in the CDL. However, Clayster chimed in saying that he would help Xposed determine which talent to pick up.
It all remains to be seen whether or not Team Xposed could become a regular name in the Challengers scene. For now, the team will try and win Challengers Champs in two weeks.
