TSM announced the signing of their new League of Legends Championship Series Academy support, Choi “Mia” Sang-in on Tuesday. This stands in contrast to Upcomer’s previous report that TSM were considering the 23-year-old Korean for the main roster.

“Boasting experience across different leagues and an engage-heavy playstyle, Mia is the perfect fit for our Academy roster,” the announcement reads. “His knowledge and leadership will be incredible assets to the development of the squad.”

Upcomer also reported that Huang “Maple” Yi-Tang is headed to TSM’s main roster as the new mid laner. As of now, that is still expected to be the case.

Mia started his career in 2017 in Japan with SCARZ. He later returned to South Korea where he was a substitute for teams like KT Rolster and APK Prince. He found a more permanent home in 2021 when he travelled to Latin America to play for Estral Esports in Latin America.

Estral finished second in the Latin League 2021 Closing Playoffs, losing 3-2 against Infinity Esports. They came second once again during the first season of 2022, narrowly missing the Mid-Season Invitational.

TSM Academy Mia

TSM are one of the most successful organizations in North American LCS history, but their ninth place finish during the 2022 spring split left a lot to be desired. The academy roster finished in dead last, partially due to the constant changes to their roster.

TSM Academy are still looking to fill out their roster. As it stands, they are missing a top laner and a mid laner. The former academy top, Omran “V1per” Shoura, made the decision to step back from pro play and TSM announced his departure on April 21. The former mid, Ji “Takeover” Hyeun-min, was promoted to the main roster, though his position there may change as the org brings in Maple.

As of now, TSM Academy’s roster is as follows:

  • Young “Hyper” Seo (Jungler)
  • Tony “Instinct” Ng (ADC)
  • Choi “Mia” Sang-in (Support)
