After a day full of spells, Token Druid wins and Alexstrasza finishes, Hearthstone Grandmasters Week 7 Day 1 concluded with the regional quarterfinalists.

Unlike the previous week, Hearthstone players duked it out against in the Conquest format. Each player brought four decks and four unique classes to the tournament, with each competitor getting to ban one of their opponent’s decks.

Token Druid reigns victorious

The Asia-Pacific region opened the live broadcasts with games between Kim “che0nsu” Cheonsu and Chiang “Alan870806” Shih-Hsun.

While che0nsu started the games with Miracle Rogue, his opponent brought Rush Warrior into the fray. Che0nsu earned the first point by consistently clearing Alan870806’s board.

In the following game, che0nsu went with Secret Libram Paladin against his Alan870806’s Spell Mage deck, and the latter player evened up the score 1-1.

Next, it was a Rush Warrior mirror match between the two players. With the help of Blademaster Samuro, Alan87080 cleared his opponent’s board. On his next turn, he followed that up with Alexstrasza the Life-Binder and went face with minions for lethal.

Although che0nsu tied the score in the next game using Rush Warrior against Miracle Rogue, it was not enough as Alan870806 claimed victory in the final game with Miracle Rogue against Secret Libram Paladin.

As for Chen “tom60229” Wei Lin versus Chung “blitzchung” Ng Wai, tom60229 swept his opponent 3-0. He achieved victory using Spell Mage, Miracle Rogue and Token Druid decks.

Spell Mage finished off Control Priest with the help of Apexis Blast, Runed Orb, minion damage and a Fireball to the face. Meanwhile, Miracle Rogue created a board during his earlier turns and midgame against Control Priest. After chipping away at blitzchung’s health total, tom60229 earned another point.

When it all came down to the Token Druid mirror match, tom60229 won the game when his opponent’s hand ran out of the resources that summoned tokens.

Pa “GivePLZ” Yu Hsin then clashed against Cho “Hi3” Wongyeong. In the final game between them, GivePLZ achieved a score of 3-2 using Token Druid against his opponent’s Miracle Rogue. With the help of his tokens, GivePLZ brought his opponent down to zero.

As for Wesley “lambyseries” Seek versus Jang “DawN” Hyun Jae, it also came down to a fifth game. Like GivePLZ, lambyseries earned a place in the Hearthstone Grandmasters Week 7 quarterfinals thanks to Token Druid.

Alexstrasza for lethal

Next, Hearthstone Grandmasters Europe took the spotlight.

Enzo “Warma” Floch’s Control Warrior and Linh “Seiko” Nguyen’s Weapon Rogue opened the matches. The latter competitor obtained the first point by going face with Wicked Stab (Rank 3) alongside a hit via a buffed weapon.

However, Warma brought it back with his own Weapon Rogue deck against Seiko’s Control Priest in the following game. Warma continued with two more victories after that using Control Warrior and Control Priest, earning a score of 3-1 and securing his place in the quarterfinals.

Next, Torben “Viper” Wahl duked it out against Jaromír “Jarla” Vyskočil.

In the first game, Viper chose Miracle Rogue to fight against Jarla’s Control Warlock. Jarla obtained the first point after his opponent went into fatigue and bowed out.

Viper tied the score 1-1 via N’Zoth Paladin in the following game and continued to be victorious afterwards, earning a score of 3-1. His other winning decks included Miracle Rogue and Control Priest.

When it was David Neila “Frenetic” Quiñones versus Romaric “AyRoK” Dubois, the latter player came out on top with a score of 3-2.

While Frenetic defeated his opponent in the first game using Alexstrasza the Life-Binder for exact lethal, AyRoK tied the score thanks to Libram Paladin in the following one.

The third game was a Spell Mage mirror match. AyRoK claimed victory with two Fireball spells to the face when his opponent didn’t have enough burn for lethal.

Although Frenetic tied the score 2-2 in the next game, it wasn’t enough as AyRoK obtained the final point with his Miracle Rogue deck.

Hearthstone Grandmasters Europe closed with games between Simone “Leta” Liguori and Zakarya “xBlyzes” Hail.

xBlyzes prevailed against his opponent with a score of 3-1. While he lost against Leta’s Rush Warrior in the first game, he brought it back in the next ones with his own Rush Warrior deck, Libram Paladin and OTK Demon Hunter.

This earned xBlyzes a spot in the quarterfinals alongside Warma, Viper and AyRoK.

Hearthstone Grandmasters Americas

Davi “Fled” Garcia and Brian “Briarthorn” Schneider went up against each other first in the next region. Fled swept his opponent 3-0 using N’Zoth Paladin, Control Priest and Control Warrior.

Similar to Fled, Facundo “Nalguidan” Pruzzo also swept Luke “NoHandsGamer” Kooken 3-0. The winning decks consisted of Spell Mage, Control Priest and OTK Demon Hunter.

Nalguidan earned the final point after drawing into his combo cards. He played Il’gynoth, two Mo’arg Artificer minions for extra spell damage, Ethereal Augmerchant, Talented Arcanist and Felscream Blast to deal 48 damage to his opponent.

When it was time for Ramiro “Rami94” Ponce to face Muzahidul “muzzy” Islam, the latter player secured a place in the quarterfinals with a score of 3-1. Although Rami94 obtained a win using N’Zoth Paladin, Muzzy came out on top with the help of Spell Mage, Secret Libram Paladin and Miracle Rogue.

The last matchup of the day consisted of games between Luna “lunaloveee” Eason and Joshua “Impact” Graham.

Lunaloveee won the first two points using Control Warlock and Control Warrior against her opponent’s Secret Libram Paladin. However, Impact persisted with the same deck and won against Spell Mage in the third game.

This meant that the final game involved lunaloveee’s Spell Mage against Impact’s Rush Warrior. After a Fireball and a ping to the face, Lunaloveee achieved a score of 3-1 and acquired a spot in the quarterfinals.
