The submachine gun class has always been one of the most popular in Call of Duty: Warzone 2, and that has not changed with Season 2. While the category’s top weapon, the Fennec 45, has been nerfed a couple of times, that has simply opened the door for other SMGs to shine in Warzone 2. Since the Fennec’s nerf, though, players have been confused about which SMG is the best to use.
Today, we’ll be counting down our picks for the top five SMGs in Warzone 2 Season 2. Of course, this list is subjective, but it is backed up by the opinions of professional players and the community at large. The list is subject to change depending on what other weapon-balancing updates come through for the rest of the season.
5. VEL 46
The VEL 46, or the MP7 for some, is an average submachine gun that has a decent loadout. The VEL 46’s biggest strength is its mobility, as it’s a compact SMG that doesn’t have a ton of damage range. Compared to other SMGs, though, the VEL falls short and will need a large buff to get into the meta.
4. PDSW 58
The PDSW 58 is next up, and it falls right in line with the VEL 46. It’s a terrific mobile SMG, but it lacks the damage range and accuracy to be one of Warzone 2’s top overall SMGs. Still, players who haven’t tried the PDSW 58 might be surprised with how well it performs at close range.
3. Fennec 45
That’s right, the Fennec 45 has fallen all the way to the third-best SMG after ruling over the class since Warzone 2 arrived. The double nerf in Season 2 has really hurt the Fennec, and there are now two stronger SMGs that can outmatch the Fennec at both close and long range.
2. Vaznev-9K
The best SMG in Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer is now one of the top two SMGs in Warzone 2. Like in multiplayer, the Vaznev has dominant damage range and recoil control to go along with some great mobility attachments on its loadout. However, it just misses out on being the top SMG.
1. Lachmann Sub
Thanks to its superior damage range and accuracy, the Lachmann Sub is our pick for the top SMG in Season 2 of Warzone 2. While the Vaznev might have better mobility, no other SMG can match the Lachmann Sub when it comes to overall stats. Players can use the Lachmann at any range, within reason, and find that it delivers on all fronts.
