The shotgun class in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 received a major jolt of energy when the KV Broadside was introduced into multiplayer. Not only was this shotgun severely overpowered upon its release, but even after a nerf in Season 2 Reloaded, the Broadside is still one of the best guns in the game.
However, some players might need to know which other shotguns could compete with the KV Broadside. In that case, we have put together a list of the top five shotguns in Modern Warfare 2 based on their current standing in Season 2. With Season 3 set to arrive soon, this list very well could change.
5. Lockwood 300
If you have played any Modern Warfare 2 recently, you have likely rarely come across someone using the Lockwood 300. It only has two shots in the chamber before needing to reload and players usually need both of those shots to kill an enemy. That doesn’t make for an ideal shotgun, which puts it at the bottom of our rankings.
4. Bryson 890
Next up, we have the Bryson 890, which is a semi-automatic shotgun that was virtually made useless by the introduction of the KV Broadside. While the Bryson 890 can dish out some decent damage and range, it simply doesn’t compare to the Broadside.
3. Bryson 800
The Bryson 890’s cousin, the Bryson 800, immediately follows it on our list. The Bryson 800 has a strong damage range and recoil control, but it can be slightly less reliable than the other top shotguns in Modern Warfare 2. Still, it’s not a bad pick for a close-range map like Shipment. Players can have some real fun running around with it and one-pumping every enemy they come across.
2. Expedite 12
The Expedite 12 is a slightly better version of the Bryson 800. It has a stronger damage range and is more reliable across all ranges. However, players will have to get used to how long it takes the Expedite 12 to load each shot, as it’s not an instantaneous action. At most ranges, though, you should only need to put two shots into an enemy to finish them.
1. KV Broadside
Finally, we have the top dog in the KV Broadside. This is a no-brainer, as the Broadside remains the best shotgun in MW2 even after it was nerfed. It can annihilate a group of enemies without breaking a sweat and players can equip it with Dragon’s Breath ammunition to be even more of an annoyance. Until another nerf comes down for the Broadside, it will remain the best shotgun in multiplayer.
