The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 beta features just under two dozen guns, which won’t be anywhere close to that number of available weapons when the full game launches on Nov. 10. However, players can accustomed to the new weapons now, as they all can be unlocked by simply leveling up your character.

Of course, you might not want to use every single gun available in the beta. If you want to get straight into business, then going with one of the better guns in the game from the start is the best way to do that. Luckily, today I am going over the top five best guns to use in the Modern Warfare 3 beta so you know exactly which ones you should level up first.

I will do my best to include a variety of weapons from different classes, but there will be some guns from the same class on the list.

5. Rival-9

The Rival-9 is one of three submachine guns you can unlock in the beta, and it’s easily the second-best one available to you. The SMG has terrific mobility, which is its number one attribute, but slightly falters when it comes to damage range. So you can expect to absolutely fly around the map with the Rival-9 but be prepared to sink a fair few shots into enemies to get kills.

4. Lockwood 680

I will preface this entry by saying that the Lockwood 680 doesn’t really get good until you fully level it up. Then, once you have its full slate of attachments available to you, its strongest loadout can terrorize the enemy team. The Lockwood has the potential to one-shot kill enemies from a decent distance and has a very minimal delay on its fire rate, meaning you can fire the gun extremely quickly after shooting. I recommend hopping into Skidrow or Rust with the shotgun and going to work on the enemy team.

3. MTZ-556

It feels strange putting the MTZ-556 at the number three spot on this list, but it simply doesn’t compare to the top two guns in the MW3 beta. Of course, this doesn’t diminish the fact that the MTZ-556 is a fantastic assault rifle with virtually no weaknesses when it’s equipped with the right loadout. It has a tremendous fire rate, little recoil, and good damage range, making any situation feasible with the rifle in hand.

2. MCW

The top two spots on this list were extremely easy to figure out, but it wasn’t easy figuring out which weapon went in which spot. I eventually decided on the MCW as the second-best gun in the beta, but you can easily think of it as the best weapon if you’re more of an assault rifle fan. The MCW is a recreation of the ACR from previous Call of Duty games, and it doesn’t have any weaknesses whatsoever. You can use it at close range, long-range, and anything in between with great success.

1. Striker

The Striker submachine gun nabs the top spot from the MCW. The replica of the UMP-45 is extremely strong in MW3 and it might shock you just how good it can be, especially at longer ranges. The damage range on the Striker comes close to matching an assault rifle and its close range prowess is unlike anything else in the game. It’s almost certain the developers will choose to nerf the Striker in some way, so make use of it while you still can in the beta.

And there you have it, the top five weapons in the Modern Warfare 3 beta. This list will certainly change for the full launch of the game, but for now, I recommend leveling these guns up first if you want the best performance.
