The 2022 League of Legends Champions Korea summer season is well underway, with games happening five days a week. For fans that don’t have time to watch all the action but want to know what is going on, we at Upcomer are here to provide a daily recap of each day’s games. Here is what happened Wednesday in the 2022 LCK summer season.
BRO defeat NS
The first matchup of the day was between Fredit BRION and Nongshim RedForce, two of the most underperforming teams in the region. In BRO’s case, they’re the worst team in the league; they entered this match 0-8 and have only managed to win a single game out of 17. For NS, they haven’t done much better sitting at just a 2-6 record.
BRO took a chance in Game 1 by drafting their jungler Eom “UmTi” Seong-hyeon Bel’Veth who hasn’t done well in the LCK up to this point. But UmTi made it work, as UmTi allowed BRO to jump out to an early lead behind two kills of his own. The impact UmTi had with Bel’Veth in this game was great as his movement across the map opened up objective control for the winless team. BRO had a lead 20 minutes into the game. BRO used that lead to eventually take Mountain Dragon Soul due to UmTi’s aggressive play. As UmTi created space for his team, mid-laner Kim “Lava” Tae-hoon on Azir started to take space away from NS and at the fight for Elder Dragon, Lava decided to just backdoor the base unchecked giving BRO just their second game win of the season.

BRO didn’t draft anything too crazy in Game 2 — neither did NS — but it wasn’t comp cohesion that decided the game, it was team play. Despite being winless, BRO played Game 2 like a team fighting for playoffs. Despite NS holding a lead at the 23-minute mark, when it came to team fights in the mid-game, those were all BRO; a few skirmishes gave BRO the gold lead. NS looked lost in every fight, and as a result, they lost every fight. In a game where BRO was finally the team outclassing their opponent, they picked up their first series win of the 2022 LCK summer split in 2-0 fashion.
LSB take down HLE
The second match of the day was a mismatch of records pitting the hot streaking Liiv SANDBOX against the struggling Hanwha Life Esports who thanks to BRO’s win earlier in the day were now in danger of falling to last place in the 2022 LCK summer standings.
Game 1 looked promising for HLE as their bot laner Jo “Cheoni” Seung-mo got three kills six minutes into the game which put the HLE bot lane extremely ahead of their opponents. But with LSB putting focus on the bot lane and through a clutch team fight around the first Rift Herald, the lead was quickly erased. Just 10 minutes in, it was LSB who had a 2k gold lead. The rest of the game was a disaster for HLE. The three kills on Kalista would actually be the only three kills the entire team had the rest of the game, until LSB gave them another by diving the fountain as LSB rolled HLE in under 30 minutes.

HLE looked unphased at the start of Game 2, getting first blood in the top lane. However with LSB on Kalista now, Lee “Prince” Chae-hwan showed HLE how to play from ahead as he also got three early kills on the champion but proceeded to move his weight around forcing his way into fights and growing his lead which allowed LSB to take three early dragons before 20 minutes and jump up to a 6k gold lead. The entire team were feeling themselves as they brute forced their way into the enemy base just two minutes later. After taking an inhibitor, HLE were left to clean up their base while LSB cleaned up the Infernal Dragon Soul and marched right back into the base to close out the series cleanly 2-0 putting LSB at 7-3 and dropping HLE to 1-9.
