Ever since Major I in the Call of Duty League, the TAQ-56 has been the dominant assault rifle choice for competitive play in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. After the M4 was banned by pros, the TAQ-56 was the next weapon up. As most players know, the TAQ-56 is lethal at long range thanks to its low recoil, high damage, and balanced fire rate. However, Ranked Play is a whole other beast in MW2, and players will need a very specific loadout for the TAQ-56 if they want to rank up their Skill Division.
The recommended attachments for the TAQ-56 will likely be different depending on who you ask. Some players will opt for a loadout that focuses more on mobility while others want to stay back and pick enemies using a slower, but more accurate version of the rifle. In my estimation, if your aim is good enough, the TAQ-56 can feature some mobility attachments and still be a laser beam at longer ranges. As such, I’ll be building the loadout with a mixture of attachments instead of just focusing on long-range gunfights.

Ranked Play loadout for the TAQ-56 in MW2
- Barrel: 17.5″ Tundra Pro Barrel
- Underbarrel: FSS Sharkfin 90
- Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
- Stock: TV Cardinal Stock
- Rear Grip: Demo Cleanshot Grip
This loadout begins with the 17.5″ Tundra Pro Barrel, which is standard for all TAQ-56 loadouts in Ranked Play. The barrel ups the damage range of the TAQ to ensure it can kill enemies as quickly as possible. Following the barrel, I have the FSS Sharkfin 90, which slightly increases accuracy as well as handling without any negatives associated with it.
As for mobility, there is the TV Cardinal Stock and Demo Cleanshot Grip. Both of these attachments improve overall handling so you can be more effective at close-mid ranges. Finally, the loadout closes with the 5.56 High Velocity ammunition, which is essential to ensure that your bullets reach their target quickly.
