The STB 556 has remained one of the best assault rifles in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 since the launch of multiplayer. While it has never been at the top of the class, it is still a serviceable weapon that won’t put you at a disadvantage in any way. However, if you want to get the most out of the STB 556 in MW2, you want to use its absolute best loadout.

There aren’t that many shortcomings when it comes to the STB 556. The AR has a terrific fire rate, damage range, and accuracy. Although, the biggest attribute of using the STB 556 is the mobility you gain with the rifle. There is not a more mobile AR than the STB 556, allowing you to roam around the map in any way they see fit. For the STB 556’s recommended loadout, though, the attachments lean towards recoil control and stability to give you a solid balance.

Best STB 556 loadout in MW2

Since the STB 556 is an assault rifle, you will want to keep their gunfights at medium-long range for the most part. Of course, the STB does have solid mobility for an AR, so you can venture into closer gunfights if they wish. The loadout for the STB boosts mobility slightly so players can take on these gunfights more effectively but mainly boosts accuracy.

  • Barrel: 18″ Bruen Guerilla
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Red Dot
  • Rear Grip: STIP-40 Grip
  • Ammunition: 5.56 High Velocity
  • Underbarrel: FFS Sharkfin 90

The loadout utilizes attachments like the 18″ Bruen Guerilla, the STIP-40 Grip, and the FSS Sharkfin 90 to improve overall accuracy. The 5.56 High Velocity ammunition also increases bullet velocity, giving you a better chance in long-range gunfights. I went with a red dot for this loadout, but you can trade that out for something else if you prefer the iron sights.

As a final note, you can use the STB 556 in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
