The best SO-14 loadout in MW2

The SO-14 has been one of the least-used weapons in all of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 multiplayer since the game launched. It’s a battle rifle that has both a semi-auto and fully-auto firing mode, neither of which are particularly inspiring to the average player. However, with the right attachments on its loadout, you can turn the SO-14 into quite an enjoyable gun to use in MW2.

While the SO-14 won’t beat out the TAQ-56s of the world, it will likely surprise you. The number one aspect of the SO-14 that needs to be improved for that to happen is recoil control. Especially when it fully-auto mode, the SO-14 tends to kick straight into the air, making it difficult to control. I will be correcting that with a few specific attachments on the SO-14’s loadout.

Best SO-14 loadout in MW2

The biggest buff SO-14 needs, aside from a larger magazine size, is added recoil control. When in fully-auto mode, the SO-14 tends to kick straight up in the air, which makes it extremely difficult to control at range. Luckily, you can boost their accuracy in addition to damage range to craft the best version of the SO-14 in multiplayer.

  • Muzzle: Lockshot KT85
  • Barrel: 22″ Boremaster Barrel
  • Optic: Slimline Pro
  • Ammunition: 7.62 High Velocity
  • Magazine: 25 Round Mag

This loadout is started by the Lockshot KT85, which increases both horizontal and vertical recoil control, and 22″ Boremaster Barrel, also boosting recoil control in addition to damage range and bullet velocity. Speaking of bullet velocity, that stat is increased even more with the addition of the 7.62 High Velocity ammo, which should make sure your bullets always land first.

Finally, I have the Slimline Pro optic, which is great for close to mid-range gunfights, and the 25 Round Mag to give you some breathing room when it comes to reloading.

As a final note, you can use the SO-14 in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
