There are six light machine guns in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, and all of them can be considered viable in some way or another. They all perform roughly the same, with the bunch not having much recoil but possessing slow mobility stats. Currently, the RPK is the king of the class, acting more like an assault rifle than anything else. However, if players want to go with an underrated option, they should consider the Sakin MG38, which has a terrific loadout in MW2.

The Sakin MG38 is a classic Call of Duty LMG, featuring a large magazine, slow movement speed, and a high damage range. However, other LMGs tend to do some things better than the Sakin, which results in the LMG rarely appearing in the multiplayer kill feed. While it’s true other LMGs are slightly stronger than the Sakin, if players equip the right attachments, that strength gap disappears.

Best Sakin MG38 loadout in MW2

The overall goal of the Sakin MG38’s loadout is to increase its long range prowess. While we could choose to boost mobility, the Sakin truly excels at long range, and players should be keeping their gunfights at that distance with this LMG.

  • Barrel: 20″ Bruen Silver Series
  • Laser: Schlager PEQ Box IV
  • Optic: Cronen Mini Pro/ Slimline Pro/ SZ Mini
  • Rear Grip: Bruen Q900 Grip Wrap
  • Underbarrel: Sakin Side Grip

The loadout begins with the 20″ Bruen Silver Series, which boosts damage range and recoil control. Then, we have the Schlager PEQ Box IV, which provides a slight increase in aim down sights time so players can snap onto enemies quicker.

The rest of the loadout is focused on accuracy and stability, giving players a much easier gun to use at longer ranges. As for the optic, we’ve given players choices for a basic red dot depending on what they have unlocked.

As a final note, you can use the Sakin MG38 in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
