The MX Guardian is a shotgun that was added to both Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone with the Season 4 Reloaded update. While players didn’t like the MX Guardian at first, given its overpowered nature, the shotgun has cooled off since its launch. Now that’s not to say it’s not still a good weapon in MW2, because it is, but players will need to adjust their loadout for the MX Guardian based on recent updates.

If you have used the MX Guardian, then you know just how powerful it can be. Its high fire rate and damage paired with a huge magazine makes for a close range monster in multiplayer, and that’s exactly what it was and still is in Season 5.

Below, you can see my preferred MW2 loadout for the MX Guardian, which emphasizes close-range engagements.

Best MX Guardian loadout in MW2

This loadout is designed for close range gunfights, although it still can deal some significant damage at mid-range as well. Of course, you’re still using a shotgun, so you need to remember to always try and stay close to enemies when possible.

  • Muzzle: SA MX-50
  • Barrel: HYP-LM
  • Laser: Stovl Tac Laser
  • Underbarrel: VX Pineapple
  • Magazine: MX Pro Mag

The goal of this loadout is to increase your damage range, stability, and mobility with the MX Guardian. All of these attachment buffs will help you out when it comes to close range gunfights, as you can kill enemies much faster. The SA MX-50 muzzle and HYP-LM barrel help out in the damage range department while the Stovl Tac Laser gives players some much-needed mobility and hip fire accuracy.

The magazine of the MX Guardian is also upgraded thanks to the MX Prog Mag and finally, the VX Pineapple offers the shotgun stability when firing in ADS.

As a final note, you can use the MX Guardian in the new Modern Warfare 3 and use this same loadout to great effect. However, you will need to change most of the rest of the class, as the perks have been entirely changed in the new multiplayer title. You can still use the same lethal or tactical as well as a similar secondary weapon. Of course, I suggest using some of the new content first so you can experience some of the fresh items in MW3.
