Out of the four shotguns in Call of Duty: Vanguard, the Double Barrel might be the toughest to fight against. While the Combat Shotgun and Gracey Auto are extremely overpowered, the Double Barrel comes with an attachment that neither of those weapons possess. Until further notice, this attachment is the focal point of the Double Barrel’s top loadout in Vanguard.

The attachment that makes the Double Barrel shotgun so strong is the Akimbo Proficiency. This simply allows players to dual-wield their shotgun, meaning they have one of the weapons in each hand. As players can guess, this is quite powerful when considering how strong the Double Barrel is by itself. When players add another one of them to the mix, they create a monster and also add a key element to the Double Barrel’s recommended loadout.

Adding the Akimbo Proficiency to the mix on the loadout means players have to adapt around the weapon they’re using. They have to be aware that they can only hip-fire with the Double Barrel and that it won’t be as accurate. However, with the right set of attachments, players can maximize their chance for success with the weapon.

  • Muzzle: M97 Full Choke
  • Barrel: Sawed Off
  • Optic: 1913 Variable 4-8X
  • Stock: Removed Stock
  • Underbarrel: M1915 Steady
  • Magazine: Double Aught
  • Ammo Type: Packed Powder
  • Rear Grip: Pine Tar Grip
  • Proficiency: Akimbo
  • Kit: Quick

Using this set of attachments, players see their hip-fire and regular accuracy boosted significantly. Their damage range is also increased with the Packed Powder. This stat is decreased with the Sawed Off barrel but that improves overall damage and gives players a wider pellet spread in exchange. The M97 Full Choke brings the pellet spread back in tighter, though.

This Double Barrel loadout will take some getting used to in Vanguard but once players figure it out, they have one of the best weapons in the game on their hands.
