Season 5 of Call of Duty: Warzone is just around the corner, and some previously underrated weapons in the battle royale are starting to get a second look. Raven Software has a habit of buffing and nerfing several weapons with the seasonal update. This means that players should be preparing for every possible outcome, including the possibility that one of these underrated weapons will make it into the meta. One gun that’s not in the meta, but some players think should be, is the Black Ops Cold War AK-47, which continues to have a dominant loadout in Warzone.

The Cold War AK-47 has always been known to possess one of the best assault rifle loadouts in the game. However, newer ARs have continually ensured that the AK-47 has remained out of the meta, despite its loadout being one of the strongest in the class. Some creators are yet again returning to the AK right before Season 5, though, and fans should follow suit.

One creator that’s fully on board the AK-47 hype train is WhosImmortal. The YouTuber recently published a video going over the AK-47’s time-to-kill stat compared to other top ARs. They found that the Cold War AK-47 has a faster TTK than guns like the NZ-41, STG44, and KG M40. WhosImmortal stated that fans should be keeping their gunfights within 20-45 meters, especially with the AR’s top loadout equipped.

  • Muzzle: GRU Suppressor
  • Barrel: 20” Spetsnaz RPK Barrel
  • Optic: Axial Arms 3x
  • Underbarrel: Spetsnaz Grip
  • Ammunition: Bakelite 60 Rnd

This loadout is slightly changed from previous versions of the Cold War AK-47, but it mostly stays the same. The only change is the magazine, as the Bakelite 60 Rnd offers players more bullets per magazine. The rest of the loadout focuses on damage range and recoil control, both of which should make the AK-47 a strong contender come Season 5.
