As many players could have anticipated, the assault rifle class is the most popular in Season 1 of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.

The ARs always have the most versatility in Warzone, and that has not changed with the new battle royale installment. There are several ARs that players could use and not be at a disadvantage at all. However, there are three ARs that we believe deserve special consideration in Warzone 2, with one being the absolute best in class.

Our picks for the three best assault rifles takes into account ease of use, overall strength, and the pick rates for each AR in Season 1. We’ll begin with what we believe to be the best AR in Warzone 2 with the other two following behind.

Best Assault Rifles in Warzone 2

1. TAQ-56

If you’ve played any Warzone 2 in Season 1, then you knew this was coming. The TAQ-56 is the best AR by a solid margin, featuring an extremely high damage range profile and almost no recoil when equipped with the right attachments. It’s a true jack of all trades in Warzone 2, and players should equip it on their primary loadout if they haven’t already.

2. Kastov 762

The Kastov 762 has been a pleasant surprise thus far in Warzone 2. Many thought other assault rifles would be near the top of the charts, but the Kastov 762 has been one of the more consistent weapons in its class. It’s extremely easy to use, featuring balanced stats and terrific mobility for an AR. Players can use the Kastov 762 in any way they want, making it a perfect gun for both beginners and veterans.

3. M4

The AR that most players thought would be at the top spot in Warzone 2 comes in at number three. While the M4 is a fantastic choice in Season 1, it simply doesn’t have the stats to overtake the TAQ-56 or Kastov 762 at this point. The M4 has jumpier recoil than both weapons, making it slightly inconsistent. However, its damage range and fire rate keep it afloat and ahead of other assault rifles.
