There are several iconic weapons that players simply expect to be included with a Modern Warfare game from developer Infinity Ward. The M16, M4, and a version of the M40A3 sniper (LA-B 300) are almost always shipped with the game at launch. One additional weapon that’s also on that list is the Desert Eagle, which has been renamed the .50 GS in recent years. The .50 GS is an intriguing pistol in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, as it has an extremely high-risk, high-reward loadout.

Like in Modern Warfare 2019, the .50 GS is a one-shot kill to the head at most ranges. Anything below the head and players need at least one additional shot to kill an enemy. While this sounds easy enough, the .50 GS possesses some of the highest recoil of any weapon in multiplayer. It also doesn’t have the fastest fire rate by default, which places players in a sticky situation if they miss a shot or two.

Enemies can easily snap onto them during this time and kill them before they have a chance to get off a third shot. For this reason alone, players need to ensure they’re using the best attachments available for the .50 GS.

Best .50 GS loadout in Modern Warfare 2

The primary focus of our .50 GS loadout will be to reduce overall recoil and increase mobility so players can get their gun up faster. These two stats will allow players to kill enemies quicker, provided they can hit their shots.

  • Barrel: SA Tyrant Fifty
  • Laser: FJX Diod-70
  • Trigger Action: SA Fifty Trigger
  • Magazine: 10 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: GS .50 Wood Grain

The loadout begins with the SA Tyrant Fifty barrel to improve accuracy while the FJX Diod-70 laser and SA Fifty Trigger boost sprint-to-fire and ADS times. The 10-Round Mag allows players to engage in gunfights longer without having to reload, but if players feel they need more bullets in each mag, they can equip the 13 Round Mag instead. Finally, the GS .50 Wood Grain rear grip allows players to quickdraw the pistol to get shots off faster.
