Popular League of Legends team Team Liquid is going to need a miracle to make it into the League of Legends Championship Series (LCS) Spring Playoffs. After losing a game last night to FlyQuest, they are scheduled to play against Cloud9 – who currently hold 16 wins. Team Liquid is in the unfortunate position to be tied with Golden Guardians and Dignitas at 7-10. In order to make it to the top 6 teams for playoffs, Team Liquid will have to defeat Cloud9, while also hoping that other teams fall behind in their next few games.

The defending LCS champions have had a great streak of wins for the past four splits. Since 2018, they’ve been crowned winners for spring and summer each year. Yet another team might take their place this time. After losing to FlyQuest, they need to do some serious thinking before they go into today’s Cloud9 game. Along those lines, ADC Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng did some serious reflecting on his Twitter, telling his followers, “hard to see the light at the moment but we won’t give up.”

This message from Doublelift came right after he informed his fans of how unmotivated he was to continue playing. As he started feeling better, he said, “I’m sorry towards every one of my teammates and I’ll be working from now on to regain their trust.” He then promised that he will turn their games around.

Support during tough times

LCS play-by-play shoutcaster Clayton “CaptainFlowers” Raines said a few words about TL, discussing the harsh realities of the team.

He nonetheless wished TL well moving forward: “I wish you guys the best improving yourselves for summer. The best steel goes through the fire.”

Among reaction to the posts, one follower mentioned that TSM are also not doing their best this split, and it’s all a state of mind. Others thought Team Liquid should call it quits and move on to preparing for the Summer Split. CaptainFlowers continued to defend his point as followers disagreed with what he initially posted.

The current teams locked in to move forward to the Spring Playoffs are Cloud9, FlyQuest, 100 Thieves, Evil Geniuses, and Team SoloMid.

Team Liquid is scheduled to play against Cloud9 today at 6 p.m. EST. You can watch the broadcasted stream on the official LoL Esports website.
