In the League of Legends 2019 Mid-Season Invitational, Team Liquid has defeated Phong Vũ Buffalo, while Flash Wolves also overcame Vega Squadron. The LCS’ Team Liquid and LMS’ Flash Wolves will advance to the group stage. One more match between Vega Squadron and Phong Vũ Buffalo will take place in the losers bracket to determine the final team that will advance.

Phong Vũ Buffalo vs. Team Liquid

Phong Vũ Buffalo started off strong with an ace in their first game against Team Liquid. They also achieved an early lead against their opponent team, performing better than expected. However, Team Liquid was the favorite for this matchup. The same continual mistakes by PVB in late parts of the match allowed Team Liquid’s Jung “Impact” Eon-yeong (정언영) and Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen to showcase their skills. The North American esports organization eventually achieved the 3-0 score that many predicted.

The result was expected, but Phong Vũ Buffalo still have one more chance to make it into the next stage. Still, Team Liquid’s win wasn’t completely without errors. Some of their early game mistakes allowed the VCS team to gain an advantage, which could mean problems in the main event. Facing off against top-tier teams like G2, SKT, and IG will mean TL has to play at a higher level.

Flash Wolves vs. Vega Squadron

Flash Wolves have always advanced to the MSI group stage, and this year they have done it once again. The Taiwan-based esports organization ultimately defeated Vega Squadron in a 3-1 matchup. Many credit Flash Wolves’ first loss to Vega Squadron due to the CIS team playing a unique Vayne in mid lane and Karthus in bot lane. However, Flash Wolves quickly bested Vega Squadron in matches 2, 3, and 4.

Vega Squadron will play against Phong Vũ Buffalo to try and reach the MSI main event on May 7.  Which team do you think will win between Phong Vũ Buffalo and Vega Squadron? Want to keep up with all of the latest League of Legends news and content? Keep track on our League of Legends page!
