Matthew Charles “xMatty” Coombs, of Karmine Corp, has reached a verbal agreement to play for Team BDS in 2022, sources told Upcomer on Tuesday. The upcoming split will be Team BDS’ first in the League of Legends European Championship. The team offered to recruit the 22-year-old British bot laner recently, sources said.

Prior to his time with Karmine Corp, xMatty played for Fnatic Academy, which has since rebranded to Fnatic Rising and had numerous successful seasons. As part of Karmine Corp in 2021, he placed first in La Ligue Française de League of Legends spring regular season and playoffs, EU Masters 2021 spring, LFL summer regular season and EU Masters 2021 summer.

Meanwhile, Team BDS finished sixth during the LFL 2021 summer, falling just short of qualifying for the summer playoffs. They did, however, acquire the League of Legends European Champion slot of Schalke 04 Esports for next season.

Team BDS have also verbally agreed to sign xMatty’s teammate, jungler Jakub “Cinkrof” Rokicki and are trying to form a roster with which to compete in the LEC. However, until free agency officially opens on Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. ET, this signing can’t be completed.
