After extensive evaluation, Sony has opened Fortnite‘s doors for cross-play.
The community has been asking for it, and now it’s here! Sony Interactive Entertainment has found a way to support cross-platform features in the popular battle royale game, Fortnite.
Sony announced they would be supporting cross-play after extensive evaluation. Their first step is opening up beta, which has now begun. This will allow players on PlayStation to play with Fortnite‘s other available platforms: iOS, Android, PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One. Beta is a way to test features and see how different platforms and players react to the game.
As games like Fortnite become more popular, it becomes important for publishers, developers, and producers to enable cross-platform play. Cross-play opens up a bigger world for players. Players from all over the world can compete against one another, regardless of the device they are using. This is another testament to the widespread growth of games across the world and across multiple systems.
Sony joins the cross-play movement

Sony is committed to seeing this change and are supporting the policy across the organization. It seems as though there may be other developments for cross-platform play on other titles. The company is yet to release any details regarding this. Instead, they encourage fans to keep up to date on their social media pages.
