Smite announced via Twitter today that it is bringing new skins from the popular television shows Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra to the game. The skins will become available in the title’s July Battle Pass.

What is Smite?

Smite is a MOBA, similar to League of Legends and Dota 2. Players choose characters, defeat minions and champions for gold, get items, and try to destroy the opposing team’s base. Instead of being top-down, however, Smite is third-person. The game is most notable for its characters, which are gods from different religions and mythologies.

Since the characters from Avatar aren’t gods, they will serve as cosmetic skins for existing gods. Merlin will get an Aang skin, Susano will receive a Zuko skin, and Skadi will have a Korra skin. These skins will also change their animations to look consistent with the characters from the show.

What is Avatar?

Avatar is a popular show that originally aired on Nickelodeon in 2005. Avatar: The Last Airbender was successful enough to get a sequel, The Legend of Korra. The show is based in a fictional universe where humans can manipulate, or “bend”, elements. Normally, people can only bend one element, but the Avatar can bend all four. This makes them extremely powerful.

Aang is the Avatar and main protagonist from the first show, Avatar: The Last Airbender. Zuko is one of the antagonists early on in the show who undergoes a lot of changes throughout the series. Korra is the Avatar and protagonist from Avatar: The Legend of Korra.

The skins will be available in Smite‘s July Battle Pass. If you have never played Smite and want to try it out before the skins go live, you can check it out on the official site. If you’ve played a MOBA before, you should be able to get into the game pretty quickly.
