Longtime EU LCS host and League of Legends personality Eefje “Sjokz” Depoortere confirms that she is moving to a freelance role in the EU LCS.

Sjokz would take to her Facebook to announce her decision for the upcoming EU LCS year:
Today, I’m excited and nervous to announce that I will be continuing my career with Riot Games on a freelance basis. First and foremost, let me make this clear: EU LCS will still be a huge priority for me in 2019 and you will still see me on camera next season! I have talked with the team in Berlin at length and we are both committed to continuing our successful relationship, especially in light of the bright future of EU LCS.
It seems like although she is one of the faces of the EU LCS, she also wishes to explore other opportunities on different projects. Additionally, Depoortere states that she wants to take more time for family and friends. Working for Riot Games may be very fun and fulfilling, but it does take up a lot of someone’s time. Even still, Sjokz has been one of the most important figures in not only the EU LCS but in competitive League of Legends. She is a huge role model for women in the esports scene. As a result, she should have no problem finding more work, wherever she goes.
Looking Back and to the Future with Sjokz
Sjokz would begin her esports career with SK Gaming and CyberSportsNetwork, as an interviewer. Also, she would host her own weekly League of Legends news show called the Summoners Recap. She would eventually become the host of the EU LCS at its inception back in 2013. Since then, she has been a part of many important moments in League history. Sjokz has gone to multiple World Championships and hosted multiple events. The EU LCS host has become a staple for the professional League of Legends scene, and the community will miss her.
She would mention her plans for the future as well, saying:
I have learned a lot over the years in front of and behind the camera and want to have the opportunity to work on a larger variety of projects, see what else I can learn, and contribute to along the way. As for my concrete plans, in all honesty, I’m figuring it out as I go so stay tuned for more updates! Keeping in touch with my fans as I have over the years will continue to be my priority, be it through social media, streaming or in person. Trust me to bring you all, the fans, more and diversified content for years to come!
It seems like she is simply keeping her options open for now. However, we are sure that there are many venues for Sjokz to enter. She has proven to be one of the best on-camera talents in the esports industry. She could even branch out and begin working in a different esports altogether. For example, the Overwatch League is a constantly growing scene that could utilize her charisma and charm on broadcasts. Wherever Sjokz ends up, we wish her the best of luck!
