One of the most important choices you have to make in Hogwarts Legacy is regarding Sebastian Sallow, the Slytherin student who has a keen interest in dark magic. While Sebastian’s intentions are good (trying to save his sister, Ann), he does get carried away with trying to learn too much about dark magic and Salazar Slytherin. All throughout Hogwarts Legacy, you will get quests from Sebastian that relate to dark magic, which will wind up giving you the chance to learn all three Unforgivable Curses. This isn’t without consequence, though, as at the end of the quest line, Sebastian will get into some serious trouble.
The final mission in the questline, In the Shadow of the Relic, Sebastian’s friend, Ominis Gaunt, will lightly suggest that Sebastian should be punished for tampering with dark magic. Ominis had been against this from the start, and Sebastian kept pushing in order to learn more to hopefully save his sister. It’s this conversation with Ominis that will result in you either turning Sebastian into the Hogwarts authorities or supporting his choices.
Below, you can see the outcome of both options in Hogwarts Legacy.
Turning Sebastian in
If you decide to side with Ominis and turn Sebastian in, then he will be expelled from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. He will permanently leave the game, and will not come back. This means you can’t interact with him any further, so this is a game-altering choice.
We generally recommend against this decision, as Sebastian can be a part of the main ending in Hogwarts Legacy. He also knows all three Unforgivable Curses, which you can go back and learn from him if he’s still around. However, if you choose to expel Sebastian and still haven’t learned an Unforgivable Curse, you won’t be able to add that spell to your repertoire.
Alternatively, if you choose to not turn Sebastian in, he will stay at Hogwarts and you will have a very mad Ominis on your hands. That doesn’t matter much, though, as Ominis doesn’t play much of a role in the later stages of Hogwarts Legacy.
The big reason to keep Sebastian around is that he is a large part of certain endings. Also, as previously stated, you can go back and learn any Unforgivable Curses you missed from him, which we explain more in our previous guide.
In the end, the choice is up to you, but we recommend supporting Sebastian rather than turning him in. Either way, if you save the game before talking to Ominis, you can see the outcome of both choices and then determine which one you like better by simply loading the game from that save and choosing whatever option you decided on.
