RFLCT has been taken off the market according to an announcement made on its website Saturday. In the notice, it stated that RFLCT would no longer be available.

“RFLCT is no longer available,” the company said. “Thank you to all who played important roles to conduct research, develop products, create a brand and serve as partners along our journey. While we believe in the formulations created, after further reflection, have decided to move forward on new paths, effectively terminating the RFLCT brand.”

At the bottom, the company provided an email for those that have further questions regarding the shutdown of the company. There is nothing else available or accessible on the site, and the company has made no other statements on social media. It is unclear what happened with orders that were placed when the store first opened.

RFLCT backlash and Valkyrae

The cosmetic brand has received major backlash after presenting its products as blue light protection, claiming that it has evidence to back it up. That evidence has not been released to the public. Its co-founder and popular YouTuber Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter received the brunt of the criticism for originally promoting the product. However, after a lack of evidence surfaced following the launch of the company’s website, Valkyrae soon removed her affiliation with RFLCT from her social media bios.

During a stream on Oct. 23, Valkyrae explained her situation regarding RFLCT. In the stream, Valkyrae explained that she was shown evidence that RFLCT protected against blue light, but that research could not be made public by the company. Additionally, she said that American cosmetic store Ulta had invested in RFLCT and agreed to sell its products in stores on Oct. 24.  It is  currently unclear whether the product will be pulled from shelves due to the company’s termination or what will happen to those already shipped through online orders.
